Position Summary

The District Sales Manager manages sales operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment through; attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent and effectively engaging department personnel; optimizing Sales Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction; growing profitable new and used complete good sales; and exercising disciplined expense control.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support sales professionals/account managers to strengthen key customer relationships and drive deal development through established sales process.
  • Recognize and reward team and individual sales professionals while ensuring consistent execution and accountability.
  • Evaluate the performance of the sales staff, coaches, and supports their skill development and career planning activities.
  • Ensure appropriate sales team staffing and recruiting to meet business objectives.
  • Execute and maintains effective Sales Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Execute and manage a customer relationship process that includes: understanding of customers and practices within the AOR, expectations for prospect and customer interaction, call scheduling, and timely resolution of customer issues to realize 100% contact after the sale and a minimum of 80% Customer Allegiance.
  • Collaborate with Sales Manager and Product / Complete Goods Manager to establish and execute sales goals for assigned region.
  • Achieve budgeted sales, market share, and financial objectives that align with and support the company strategy on complete goods inventory and pricing.
  • Ensure and hold sales professionals accountable to complete accurate paperwork for all sales transactions.
  • Create annual Sales Department goals and budget in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
  • In collaboration with Marketing Manager, develop Sales Department marketing plan and review progress monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals while realizing a minimum of 60% market share.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of accounting practices and basic knowledge of office procedures.
  • Ability to use computer and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers, both in a one-on-one and group settings.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively while being detail orientated.
  • Extensive knowledge of John Deere and competitive equipment as well as technology trends/advancements.
  • Business, financial, and logistical management knowledge.
  • Knowledge of relevant agronomic practices and trends
  • Knowledge of key customer account agronomic operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license require

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of Equipment Sales experience preferred
