Position Summary
As the Shop Foreman, you'll thrive on engaging with customers both in-store and out in the field, collaborating closely with a team of John Deere technicians and technology support staff who share a passion for agriculture and enhancing the customer experience. We're seeking individuals who enjoy both independent work and teamwork, contributing to a dynamic service environment. You'll work alongside accomplished John Deere service technicians to meet service targets collectively.
Job Responsibilities

Assist in assigning jobs and work areas to Service Department employees based on their skills and knowledge.
Participate in assessing repair orders and may engage in repairs as needed.
Provide guidance and aid in diagnosing machine problems for technicians and apprentices.
Inspect and repair all special tools; recommend new tooling as necessary.
Report all customer complaints to the Service Manager or Area Product support manager.
Coordinate and schedule in-house technician training.
Support the Service Manager or Service Location Manager in organizing and conducting quarterly safety meetings.
Assume the role of Service Manager or Service Location Manager in their absence.
Coordinate the re-conditioning of used equipment and setup of new equipment.
Approve the release of equipment for delivery to customers.
Assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff.
Assist in tracking and scheduling Product Improvement Programs.
Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required for job responsibilities.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
Stay updated on John Deere and competitive equipment.
Qualifications
- Preferred 3+ years of successful sales experience
- 3+ Years of people management experience
- Familiarity with John Deere or competitive equipment, along with a solid understanding of technology and agronomic trends.
- Knowledge of business, financial, and management practices within related industries.
- Exceptional customer relationship skills, with a focus on building rapport and trust.
- Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information and insights.
- Flexibility to work seasonal hours as required by the demands of the role.
- 3+ years of experience in service repair with strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems relevant to turf equipment and small engines.
- Capability to execute basic repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and equipment, following Technical Manual procedures.
- Experience in team leadership and collaborative teamwork.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with team members and customers.
- Ability to use required working applications: Service Advisor, Microsoft Office applications, and other John Deere or business specific systems.
- Must possess an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
- Willingness to work Saturdays and extended hours during peak business season.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated track record of meeting service performance metrics preferred.
- Leading people or team members (preferably in a Service or Operations role).
- Familiarity with John Deere systems and products.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
